WDM Equestrians

WDM Program

Whitney is currently accepting students and horses at all levels.

Young Horse Development

Whitney’s approach lies in the basics of ground work and body mechanics to foster a clear communication between horse and handler, resulting in confidence and performance.

She believes it is never too early to start fostering a harmonious connection between horse and rider to better prepare them for their careers.

Hunter & Jumper

Whether it’s a season partnership or a new one, we offer showing at Silver and Gold rated shows, as well as local competitions in a fun, relaxed atmosphere focusing on individual goals throughout the season.

Horsemanship

Whitney’s goal is to pass along her knowledge of horsemanship to her students. She believes that a solid foundation is the key to a positive and long lasting relationship between horse and rider.

Her method is based on the principal that learning should be fun, while improving well-being, performance, communication and instilling confidence along the way.

Testimonials
To say Whitney is the right choice when teaching horsemanship is a massive understatement. Whitney believed in me and my OTTB when I didn’t believe in myself, or my horse. She’s taught me more than I thought possible in a year’s time, and am excited to continue learning from her. She has an extremely gentle but clear way of communicating with both student and horse, in a way that not only improves your relationship with your horse but also helps you understand how the lessons learned on the ground carry out in saddle. Whitney’s approaches are fantastic not only for young horses, but also those older that are being reintroduced into work or switching careers. Trying to break bad habits, or old patterns in a way that doesn’t overwhelm you or your horse? Whit’s your girl! Whitney builds confident students, confident handlers, and more importantly… confident horses. I’m proud to call myself a WDM student, and always will be.

It's impossible to describe what differentiates Whitney in only a few sentences. Her natural demeanor gives her the ability to connect with, put at ease, and engage both horses and riders alike. Our daughter learned to ride with other coaches, but she's learned to thrive with Whitney's experienced and caring support. A dear friend of ours recommended Whitney, saying she could take our daughter to the Royal or the Olympics if that's where she wanted to go. We aren't yet sure of her goals, but I've no doubt Whitney could help her get wherever her heart desires.

Whitney is a one of a kind coach. As being one for her students for the past four years, I can truly say that she has made me the rider I am today. Whitney has helped me through many riding struggles with a new mare, while always keeping the well being of myself and my horse in mind. Through all the struggles she has made my mare and I a better team, working together. My goals as a rider have been met and can’t wait to keep working with Whitney!

Whitney has developed my confidence as a rider from coming off ponies onto horses to getting back to riding after an injury. We are currently working on developing my OTTB, Tallieah, with every lesson we learn something new whether it be from handling to body work to ground work and in the saddle. Tallie and I are excited to continue our journey with WDM Equestrians for the years to come.

Whitney gave me confidence as a rider coming back after a 10 year break from the jumper ring. She continues to push me to follow my dreams even when sometimes it feels impossible. Introducing me to ground work, working with young horses and developing young horses undersaddle, I would not be where I am today without her by my side. Whitney provides experience and knowledge, but also a kind heart. She truly cares about her students and is always ready to problem solve any issue that arises. She goes above and beyond for her students and their horses while prioritizing that everyone is still having fun in a sport that is so easy to get lost in. My ponies and I are forever grateful for Whitney and everything she does for us. I am proud to be a WDM equestrian and feel so lucky to have found such a compassionate coach.

I highly recommend Whitney as a horse riding coach, particularly for her exceptional skills in groundwork with young horses. As an experienced rider navigating the challenges of training a young horse, Whitney's patience and expertise were invaluable. Her guidance in groundwork techniques has been instrumental in building a solid foundation for my young horse. Whitney's calm demeanor and thoughtful approach not only accelerated our progress but also instilled confidence in both me and my horse. If you're looking for a coach who excels in groundwork and understands the nuances of starting young horses, Whitney is undoubtedly the perfect choice.

Whitney came into my life shortly after I bought Cedrick. I needed someone who could come and work with us consistently and Whitney seemed willing to accommodate us. My immediate impression was that she was very patient and was willing to watch and hear what I had to say. Six years later we are still enjoying and laughing trying to figure out Cedrick’s quirks. Whitney is constantly encouraging me and seems to have never ending patience for us. I’m not sure I would be showing and doing as well as we have been doing without her. Truly grateful for her and her guidance.

Through the last few years of having Whitney as my coach, I've truly appreciated her great eye for the finer details of riding. She's picked up on subtle things my horse or I are doing, and has challenged us with exercises and being aware to correct and improve our way of going. At a certain point in your riding it's "easy" to ride through a course, but Whitney has a way of making you and your horse improve even further to be the best versions of yourselves. We always enjoy our time with Whitney.

I had the pleasure of riding with Whitney for 4 years after taking some time off due to school. Whitney is a very dedicated, knowledgeable and encouraging coach who offers a clear, calm and positive approach. Whitney’s lessons always provided me with the tools I needed to put into practice both at home and at shows. Her approach to teaching allowed me to build on my confidence and accomplish achieving my goals. I fully recommend and support Whitney as a coach and mentor.
